Suspension of MaPrimeRénov: “Comprehensive renovation is the only way to escape energy poverty”

Living in a fridge in winter, in an oven in summer. Faced with energy insecurity, the thermal renovation of buildings, particularly homes, is not only a major ecological issue but also a real public health issue, especially during heat waves. In 2024, according to Public Health France, there were more than 17,000 cases of heat-related healthcare. The elderly and dense cities like Paris, with their old buildings and zinc roofs , are particularly affected.

To remedy this, according to associations fighting against poor housing, there is only one reliable solution: major renovations, which affect various aspects of housing, from the insulation of walls and roofs to the ventilation and heating system. These are the very same renovations whose funding, via MaPrimeRénov , will be suspended by the government.
